This curriculum has been designed with an emphasis on encouraging students to become independent and successful learners. While compounding upon their study skills, students will be guided through the transition process from ninth grade to post-secondary status. By putting organizational systems in place, learning about themselves as learners, and developing strong self-advocacy skills, we believe students will be more independent and successful learners in and after high school. Each unit has been carefully chosen to aid students in developing self-knowledge, self-advocacy, and study skills that will directly impact their academic success. Individualized instruction of specific content and skills will be provided to students as needed. Concepts and skills may be taught through direct instruction or through guided practical application of skills.
